Fun with windows...

This is for my friend Brianne.... It's a Jacob moment!!

We had some fun at the sliding glass door last night... Reagan was outside playing while Daddy was hard at work at the grill (yum!) and Ian and I were inside. Check out these pictures...

This one wasn't at the window, but it's too cute not to add... :)

The garbage is gone!

We happened to be getting out of the car in the driveway today when the recycle-man came to unload our overflowing recycle bin. We stood and watched the huge truck as it pulled up and the automatic arm came down, snatched up our bin, and dumped its contents into the truck. I really thought Reagan would think this was pretty cool. When I looked down at her to see what she thought, I never expected the look on her face. She was near tears.
I asked her what was wrong and the following conversation ensued:
Reagan: (in her sad sing-song voice) "Mommy, they took our garbage! I want it back!"
Me: "Reagan, they're supposed to come and take our garbage. It's icky. And, that's why we put it out there... for them to take. It's okay."
Reagan: (getting more upset) "But Mommy, I want it back!"
Me: (trying not to laugh) "It's okay babe... it is just icky garbage, we don't want it anymore."
Reagan: (still ticked) "Mommy, they TOOK IT, they took our garbage!"
Me: (really trying not to laugh now) "Really, Reagan, it is okay.... let's just go take a nap and you'll forget about the garbage."
As we headed upstairs for her nap, she continued on her rant about the garbage and I thought.... if she is this attached to garbage, what on earth is she going to do when she loses her first tooth?!
Silly girl...

Hmmm....

I was helping Reagan get dressed this morning and I said... " Here you go, let's wear this turtleneck today! It's cute!" Reagan takes the shirt (which has little flowers on it) and says... "Mom, my shirt doesn't have turtles on it!". She has a very valid point. This led me to ponder why on earth a turtleneck is called a turtleneck. As far as I know, turtles don't have anything around their necks, right?
I've been online looking for why this type of shirt is called a turtleneck and I can't find anything. I've found the history of the turtleneck, but that didn't help a bit. We want to know WHY!

So... if you know why a turtleneck is called a turtleneck, please help us! This mom and her almost 3 year old really, really want to know!

(Seriously... I can't believe I'm spending time on this... my little girl really makes me think!)

Lysol, please!!!

We, The Draper Family, need some Lysol. I think I will just go to the store and buy every form of cleaner, antibacterial wipe, and Lysol spray I can find.

We have just spent the past week with the flu. (And the week before that with Strep Throat, but that's another story).

The real deal flu. Not the stomach flu that I always think of when someone says "flu", but the influenza that you constantly hear about this time of year. We have the nasal swab test to prove it.

Here's the thing. We have NEVER gotten this "flu" thing before and it will forever be my prayer that we don't get it again. Ever. We have been to the doctor 4 times in the past week. I really like all the people at our doctor's office, but I don't care to see them that much. No offense to them, but seriously.

We are all doing much better now, Praise God. He was so faithful to give us strength when we needed it and force us to rest when we needed to.

As a Mom, the hardest part for me were the moments when I felt so weak that I couldn't fathom taking care of the kids. This verse is what got me through those moments:
2 Cor 12:9
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

The thought process of an almost 3 year old.

We have a new garbage can in the kitchen-- the metal kind that you step on and the lid opens. All of Reagan's life, the garbage has been hidden under the kitchen sink, but in this house the sink is too deep and therefore the itty bitty little garbage can we've been trying to make work just isn't cutting it. Needless to say, the new "toy" in the kitchen has been the topic of many spirited discussions since we bought it on Monday night. So... last night Reagan decided to take a perfectly clean cup from her drawer in the kitchen and put it in the garbage can. I was in the kitchen when she did it and quickly rescued it from the nastiness that is a garbage can and started this following conversation....

Me: "Reagan... this is a good, clean cup. It is not garbage. Please do not put things like this in the garbage can."
Reagan: "Okay, Mommy"

Now... that was WAY too easy. So I decided to emphasize the point.

Me (holding the perfectly clean cup): "Reagan... tell me... is this cup garbage?"
Reagan: "Yes!"
Me: "No it isn't Reagan, this is a clean cup. Again... is this garbage?"
Reagan: "Yes! It is garbage, Mommy!"
Me: "No... it isn't. It is a clean cup! (at this point I'm wondering if she'll ever get it-- or if she totally gets it and is just pushing my buttons) Reagan... is THIS CUP garbage? (violently shaking my head no)
Reagan: "Yes! Mommy, it is just CLEAN garbage!!!"
(Sean quickly exits the room at this point laughing hysterically)

Okay, I give.

Precious friends...

My dear friend Kathy let me invade their house and take pictures of her precious boys. I had a blast doing it... They are such cool kids and it was easy to get some fun shots of them. Here are some of my favorites...

Silly boy...

Ian manages to weasel his way into the most interesting places.... all in a matter of seconds! Here are a few of his latest.

If you can't figure out what you're looking at.... the next pictures are of Ian halfway under the couch. He was quite proud of himself.

Comments anyone?

A friend of mine just did this and I thought it was a great idea....

I would love to know who reads our blog. So... if you read this on a regular basis, would you consider leaving a comment?

We'd love to know you're out there!

The Little Gym

We had Reagan's Little Gym "Show" last week... fun! She loves her Little Gym class and has grown so much in it. She has been going to Little Gym since she was 4 months old and therefore it feels like she has grown up there! Her show day is a chance to demonstrate some of the skills she has just learned and those that she has now mastered. Daddy stayed home from work to come and she loved having him there! At the end of the class she was presented (along with the rest of her classmates) with a medal. They do such a wonderful job of making each kid feel special. Way to go Reagan!! We are so proud of you!

Here are some pictures of the highlights...
