Ian really, really does not like the feel of grass on his bare feet.... He would not put his feet down. It was hilarious!

Photography
We had some pictures done last week by Mimi Inglin at www.inglinphotography.com
She is fantastic! Go to her website and check it out. She does such a great job catching the essence of the kids she photographs. We are really excited about the photos she took of our family too! I can't post them here, so if you'd like to see them --either send me an email or leave a comment and I'll send you the password.
Enjoy-- she's really good! :)

Happy Birthday Asher!
Our nephew Asher turned 3 years old yesterday. We had his family birthday party last night and he received the coolest birthday present a 3 year old could ever imagine. Grandpa (Lindsey and Alicia's Dad) made him his very own AIRPLANE! It is modeled after the "Gee Bee" -- and old racing airplane. Perfect for Asher who loves anything that involves airplanes and/or racing! Grandpa made every part of this airplane with his very own hands. He put countless hours and his whole heart into this project and did it with perfection. This airplane is amazing! Here are some photos of the birthday boy and his new toy!
Happy Birthday Asher! We love you!!
Just for Daddy...
I took these pictures of Ian just for Daddy...
Hopefully he won't notice that Ian slobbered all over his new putter. Oops.

Really???
Those of you who know Sean, know how much he loves to play volleyball. Growing up in California, volleyball was a huge part of life and they even had men's volleyball in the school system. (Why again, don't we have that in Washington?) Anyhow... with that said, you can understand why the following statement from Reagan almost made Daddy cry. (okay, not really, but he was PUMPED!).
Reagan was walking around the house the other day carrying her favorite pink ball mumbling something under her breath. I couldn't hear what she was saying so I stopped her and asked what she was talking about. Here is what she said-- word for word, I promise. And... remember that she isn't yet 3 years old....
She said enthusiastically: "I'm going to play volleyball in High School!"
Seriously... is Daddy brain-washing her??? He promises that he's never talked to her about it and in that case, she came up with this all on her own.

Ian
We had Ian's 9 month doctor visit today. I love our pediatrician and look forward to chatting with her each time. I always feel so much more informed when I walk out of there.
So... Ian has been long/tall his whole little life and his measurements at this visit proved no different. When the nurse measured him with the "baby" measuring tape, it wasn't long enough. I'm not kidding! He finally measured (after she rigged the measuring tape to work) 31.25 inches which the pediatrician informed me was the height of an average 17 month old. Not remotely on the charts for a 9 month old.
Seriously... I'm going to be looking up at him in no time!

Fun with windows...
The garbage is gone!
We happened to be getting out of the car in the driveway today when the recycle-man came to unload our overflowing recycle bin. We stood and watched the huge truck as it pulled up and the automatic arm came down, snatched up our bin, and dumped its contents into the truck. I really thought Reagan would think this was pretty cool. When I looked down at her to see what she thought, I never expected the look on her face. She was near tears.
I asked her what was wrong and the following conversation ensued:
Reagan: (in her sad sing-song voice) "Mommy, they took our garbage! I want it back!"
Me: "Reagan, they're supposed to come and take our garbage. It's icky. And, that's why we put it out there... for them to take. It's okay."
Reagan: (getting more upset) "But Mommy, I want it back!"
Me: (trying not to laugh) "It's okay babe... it is just icky garbage, we don't want it anymore."
Reagan: (still ticked) "Mommy, they TOOK IT, they took our garbage!"
Me: (really trying not to laugh now) "Really, Reagan, it is okay.... let's just go take a nap and you'll forget about the garbage."
As we headed upstairs for her nap, she continued on her rant about the garbage and I thought.... if she is this attached to garbage, what on earth is she going to do when she loses her first tooth?!
Silly girl...

Hmmm....
I was helping Reagan get dressed this morning and I said... " Here you go, let's wear this turtleneck today! It's cute!" Reagan takes the shirt (which has little flowers on it) and says... "Mom, my shirt doesn't have turtles on it!". She has a very valid point. This led me to ponder why on earth a turtleneck is called a turtleneck. As far as I know, turtles don't have anything around their necks, right?
I've been online looking for why this type of shirt is called a turtleneck and I can't find anything. I've found the history of the turtleneck, but that didn't help a bit. We want to know WHY!
So... if you know why a turtleneck is called a turtleneck, please help us! This mom and her almost 3 year old really, really want to know!
(Seriously... I can't believe I'm spending time on this... my little girl really makes me think!)
